A devastating alleged arson attack caused over $100,000 worth of damage to a property in north Canberra earlier this month and police are now calling for information.
Police and ACT Fire and Rescue were called to a structure fire in O’Neill Street, Spence, at about 10:30 pm on 18 November 2023, ACT Policing said.
The fire destroyed a carport, storage rooms and three vehicles, with the damage estimated to be in excess of $100,000.
Detective Acting Inspector Matt Innes said the property damage has caused significant distress and financial hardship to the victims.
He said police are now urging people with information about this incident to come forward.
“This deliberately lit fire placed people’s homes at risk and is a mindless act,” he alleged.
“We know there are people in the community with information about this incident and they should contact Crime Stoppers as soon as possible.”
