If you’re of a charitable disposition Chief Minister Gallagher is throwing a party in Civic Square to welcome home Canberra’s Olympic Athletes.

“Like all Canberrans, I am extremely proud of our Olympians efforts in London, they represented themselves, their teams and their country with great distinction on the world’s stage,” the Chief Minister said.

“I am really pleased to announce that a free, public Canberra Welcome Home Celebration will be held in Civic Square, London Circuit, from 12.00 noon to 1.00pm on Tuesday 28 August. The celebration will include a range of entertainment and the chance to acknowledge our 2012 Olympic heroes.

“Our Olympians have had us on the edge of our seats over the last two weeks, and have left many Canberrans bleary eyed, myself included, with many of us rising in the early hours of the morning to watch our Olympic team at their best.

“We are especially proud of the many Canberrans who were part of the 2012 Olympic campaign, and I look forward to the Canberra community being able to recognise them through this celebration.

Question: If you’re not extremely proud you’re not a Canberran?
