What’s better than a weekend away? A free, expenses paid weekend away at a Wine Festival, especially if that festival is in the beautiful town of Orange.
A cool climate wine-growing area in central New South Wales, Orange is a three and a half-hour drive from Canberra. A regional city much like our own, it’s full of character and is a great base for exploring the exploding wine and food scene of the district. Due to the altitude in Orange, the reliable rainfall and the terroir, it is a great place to grow grapes and make wine.
Currently, all the Vikings Club locations in Canberra are shining a spotlight on the region through their featured wine promotion and giving away a priceless winery adventure for one lucky member and three of their friends.
“Each month Vikings is partnering with select suppliers to offer new tasting experiences for members through a featured wine,” said Vikings Marketing Executive Kaila Dunn.
The current featured wines come from Philip Shaw Winery in Orange, pioneers in the region with their Koomooloo vineyard first planted in 1989. Fast forward to the present day and the winery is preparing to celebrate 30 years in the industry.
“Our Group Food and Beverage Manager grew up near Orange and still has a strong connection to the region.
“When we learnt that our friends at Philip Shaw Vineyard would be celebrating 30 years we wanted to partner with them and Robert Oatley wines to offer our members a bespoke weekend away. So we timed it to coincide with the Orange Wine Festival which is a fabulous event that has been built on year on year,” shared Kaila.
The prize pack for the winery adventure includes an exclusive bespoke winery and cellar door tour at Philip Shaw Winery, two nights accommodation including breakfast plus attendance at the Philip Shaw Wine Celebration Dinner.
To enter to be in the running to win, all you have to do is purchase a glass or bottle of the Featured Wine at your local Vikings Club to go in the draw, either the ‘Philip Shaw The Gardener Pinot Gris’ or ‘Philip Shaw The Conductor Merlot’.
The Gardener is a very savoury Pinot Gris with an alluring bouquet of succulent nashi pear, white nectarine and honeysuckle which pairs perfectly with the grilled fish options on the menu at Vikings. The Conductor has notes of fleshy red berry fruits with mushroom and dried herbs. It is a medium-bodied wine and makes the perfect accompaniment to a Cheese and Antipasto platter.
“Everyone is so time poor and we all dream of getting away (especially in winter). Vikings wanted to create the perfect weekend away with friends so the prize includes accommodation, breakfast, winery and cellar door tour and special dining experience all arranged before your road trip.
“Good Wine, Good Friends, Good Food!” said Kaila.
