The Invisible Thread is a publication of 75 Canberran writers.

To celebrate its release, NewActon is combining the words of three authors with the music of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.

Alex Miller, Alan Gould and Sara Dowse have each chosen two musical compositions to bookend their poem or prose works. These will be performed by an ensemble specifically arranged for the evening in collaboration with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.

A small break between each of the three performances will give the audience a chance to absorb the coalescence of the words and music before going on to the next. This is to explore the silence and music stimulated by Aldus Huxley when he used words to guide us to the sublime: “After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.” Join us to explore this sentiment.
