I was wandering around the National Trust of Australia website and discovered something that sounded a little odd.
As of the 25th of August, seven new sites were placed on the register: 70 Dominion Circuit, Belconnen Farm, Westbourne Woods, Weston Park, Yarralumla Nursery, Canberra’s Garbage Incinerator, and Canberra’s Main Outfall Sewer.
What were those last two?
At least it is actually old and shows part of the history of infrastructure construction in Canberra.
Better than some of the other things that have been heritage listed.

Do you mean the post that I made prior to any other responses being published that linked through to a rather informative article on the subject of the post. I’m so sorry to have caused you so much angst by re-naming the hyperlink as a snarky comment towards the OP that you found it necessary to respond.
And no, I only correct spelling when I think it will cause the poster of said bad spelling’s blood to boil.

Yes, I looked it up. How could I not? “Seriously, you’re heritage listing sh*t?” *Google* “Oh, I see. Still funny though. I wonder if it’s on RiotAct” *Search* “Doesn’t seem to be, I might share it.”
Is that alright with you?
There’s a whole long-winded government doc here . But it’s just not funny.

Fascinating site, Tommy – thanks for posting. The designer should be shot, but the content’s excellent.

Thank you so much for insightful post, my only regret is that mine is as useless as yours was. Are you one of those people that corrects spelling for the good of the community as well?
For those interested, this is the sewer, it was discussed previously in the Westlake thread.

I love that this thread now comes up fifth on the google search.
I thought the chimney was for the old brickworks?
Well I’ll be darned. I’ve driven past that chimney off Cotter Rd hundreds of times and always presumed it was the remains of a house (because, you know, that’s what brick chimneys standing on their own generally are). Thanks, tommy – I have learned me a little bit more Canberra history.
Did you even bother to look?
Those last two items are quite interesting – have a read here: http://www.engineer.org.au/main_outfall_sewer.html
How’s your neighbouring deck going btw? What happened in the end?
