Canberra’s newest “urban village” WOVA is officially complete. And with only 60 of the 802 apartments left, residents will soon be pouring in – but not without some fanfare first.
By way of “welcome”, developers Geocon will host a full-blown community event on Saturday 1 June.
“It’s important that we showcase what we’ve created here and give back to the community that we’ve impacted in the delivery timeframe for this project,” Geocon CEO Damon Smith said.
“We want to say ‘Thank you’ and ‘Welcome to your new neighbourhood’.”
Located within the multi-billion dollar regeneration of the old Woden Town Centre and a 10-minute drive from the city centre, WOVA is billed as a golden opportunity nestled in the heart of Canberra’s “rapidly-reawakening geographic centre”.
Location, location, location, they say. But while it passes the golden rule of real estate with flying colours, WOVA’s occupants expect – and have been delivered – much more.
“This is a true mixed-use precinct, with residential apartments, the Abode Hotels’ newest location Abode Phillip, and commercial tenancies on the ground floor,” Damon said.
“With 95 per cent of the commercial tenancies sold, residents have the conveniences of cafes, retailers, medical centres and professional services at their doorstep and the backing of a full-scale shopping centre just up the road, while those businesses have 800-plus residential apartments above, bringing in a loyal clientele.
“Then there’s the associated amenity. Residents have a lap pool and sauna, private cinema, co-working spaces, rooftop terrace, fitness studio and private dining room with a chef’s kitchen available for their own use.
“Given the cost of housing, and the changes in the way we live and work, apartment complexes must work harder to present a viable alternative to a standalone house, and we’ve answered that at WOVA.
“Everyone from families to downsizers can move right in and enjoy their own little ecosystem.”
Aside from the commercial tenancies, WOVA comprises one-, two- and three-bedroom residential apartments and penthouses.
Damon said the standard inclusions in all apartments were “a cut above the rest”.
“Quality Smeg appliances, stone benchtops and European tapware all come standard in these apartments. As a baseline offering, it’s a cut above the rest of what’s being offered in the area,” he said.
All this will be on show at Winter WOVA-land, a spectacular free community celebration and opportunity to explore the exciting new precinct.
Round up your friends and family for a fun-filled day of community spirit and making connections, where residents and new businesses can meet and mingle and the general public can see what all the fuss is about.
Enjoy free food and drink from some of Woden’s most popular local vendors including Grease Monkey, Eighty/Twenty Café and more (subject to free registration and availability).
Entertainment includes live music from Boombox2U and kids’ treats such as face painting and fairy floss.
Visitors will be welcome to take guided tours of the resort-style amenities that set WOVA apart or join an agent-led apartment or penthouse tour by appointment.
There will also be an exclusive preview of Abode Phillip and the chance to win one of three date nights at this plush new accommodation.
“We hope people will come out in force to celebrate with us,” Damon said.
