Some Governments struggle to get economic fundamentals right. Others rush around creating new programs to put out the fires caused by their own neglect. Sometimes this is literal, sometimes merely figurative.
The ABC is reporting on plans to lure skilled workers to the ACT with glossy ad campaigns and then hold their hands until they’re too settled to run away.
“[Mr Stanhope said] We’re going to case manage each of those that express interest in the ACT that respond to this major advertising campaign,”…
“I’m hoping that through the program we’re about to pursue within south, south-west Sydney that we will sell our wares to Sydneyites as Canberra as the going place. This is where the activity’s happening,”.
There are limits to what advertising and a caseworker can achieve.
