ACT Policing has arrested a 33-year-old Gordon man after the vehicle he was driving collided with a house early this morning (Sunday 30 May).
About 1.30am, police were called to the residence in Corlette Crescent, Monash following reports of a single vehicle collision. On arrival, police observed a Ford Territory had collided with the house, causing damage to the front wall. The male owner of the house was woken at the time of the incident, and the estimated damage to his residence is still being determined.
No-one was injured as a result of this collision.
Police identified the driver of the vehicle at the scene, and performed a roadside screening test, which resulted in a positive reading. The male driver was conveyed to Tuggeranong Police station where he recorded a high level Blood Alcohol Content of 0.278, almost 14 times over his legal limit of 0.02 as an unlicensed driver.
The male driver was charged with drive motor vehicle with alcohol in blood, unlicensed driver and negligent driving. He was released on Watch house bail with conditions and will face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.

2. Suspicious fire in Mitchell:
ACT Policing is investigating a fire at a premises in Hoskins Street, Mitchell.
About 3:30am this morning (Tues 1 June), police were called to the scene, along with the ACT Fire Brigade and ACT Ambulance after smoke was seen coming from the building.
A short time later a male person was located inside the building by ACT Fire Brigade officers. The male was moved outside and received medical treatment on the scene before being transported to Calvary hospital. The male’s condition is considered critical.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, therefore police and fire investigators will remain on the scene for some time today.
Police are urging anyone who may have been in the Mitchell area at the time of the incident or who witnessed the fire to call Crime Stoppers.
