The latest contestant in the RiotACT Sim Challenge was the youthful Matthew Watts, Liberal for Ginninderra in his haunt of The Pot Belly on Weedon Close, Belconnen.

Matt went for an unconventional “donut” with his power generation and heavy industry in the middle of the map, a green buffer, and then the city stretched out in a ring around this hub.

He deployed a light rail system and extensive bus network to keep everything moving. With rapid population growth he was able to build a university early, tax dirty industry into the ground, and encourage high-tech developments in his city.

He finished with seven green bars of Mayor rating, a stonking population of 25,288, and over $100,000 still in the bank having run balanced budgets through most of the game.

Matt’s citizens gave him top marks for health and education, and good scores for safety traffic and land value. Despite determined efforts, and a conversion to renewable energy his environment score was poor and falling after three hours.

A very impressive effort.

NOTE: We’re backing up again tonight in All Bar Nun in O’Connor with our very first Green, Shane Rattenbury for Molonglo. Starts at 7pm.

All welcome to offer helpful suggestions and hoist a pint or two.

I would presume that the soapbox is subject to the whims and vagaries of its owner.

; )

Will the soap box be at the Basement this evening?

Oh, I am totally tracking with you dude! Balloons are so last year. Soap boxes are the new balloon.

Granny, some candidates give out free balloons- are you thinking what I’m thinking?

I like his soapbox. I want one!!

Trees, caves and statues of Al Grassby…

Thumper,

We probably would start calling them John Stanhope.

the zimmer frame that normally accompanies this awesome piece of man flesh must have been left behind.
