With Lake Burley Griffin being open for the first time in three years, Canberra will host an Australian triathlon championship and a World Championship qualifying race over the summer.

On 18 December, the World Champs qualifier will be held over the Olympic distance (1500 metre swim, 40km cycle, 10km run) at Acton Ferry. On 29 January, the Australian Sprint Distance Championship (750 metre swim, 20km cycle, 5km run) will be held at Rond Terrace. This race may also double as the Australian Paratriathlete Championship (tbc). 28 January sees the running of an International Triathlon Union ‘Elite Juniors’ race for competitors under 21, also at Rond Terrace.

Both races are open to all competitors and will be run in age groups. The weekends will also feature shorter distance triathlons, swimming, running and cycling races, including the Mizuno Running Series with prizemoney of $150 to the winner.
