One oxygen thief off the streets of West Belconnen

By 9 December 2012 7

A 21-year-old Dunlop man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on December 14 on assault charges after an incident in Holt last night (Saturday, 8 December).

It will be alleged that an ACT ambulance with two officers on board and en route to a Priority One medical emergency had cause to take evasive action and stop their vehicle suddenly to avoid a man running onto the roadway in Holt around 6.35pm.

The man broke off the ambulance wing mirror and damaged the side panel. He was then joined by two other men.

The ACTAS officers exited the ambulance, called for assistance and officers from Belconnen Patrol responded quickly.

The alleged offender was identified but failed to comply with police directions. The man then assaulted police and was taken into custody.

He was conveyed to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with two counts of common assault, four counts of obstructing a Territory official and a separate charge of property damage.

Neither the ACTAS officers nor police were injured during the incident.

More likely to be methamphetamine with that sort of behavior.

That’s some crazy shite right there- bull bars for Ambulances. Then again, I’d expect they’re the least likely vehicle to use them in this circumstance.
Hope all the Emergency services peeps are okay.

Make him pay for the damage to the ambulance.

Any news on whether the patient whom the ambulance was for is okay? This idiot could have killed someone through his actions….

Yes and yes. I saw this incident unfolding as I drove along Southern Cross Drive on Saturday evening. The man in question was definitely under the influence of at least one substance. He looked older than 21 to me, granted he was carrying on like a royal farktard at the time, throwing punches at the cops and yelling abuse. The other notable fact was that he was shirtless, only wearing jeans and his colourful tatts – which indicated to me that he was either drunk or wasted.
