The 2019 McDonald’s Kanga Cup got into full swing on Monday, with the first full day of matches taking place across Canberra.

Eight venues and more than 50 fields were swarmed with children in all colours of playing kits and of all ages as the Tournament proper kicked off with the 8:30 am timeslot.

At Hawker Football Centre, the Woden Valley SC U/9’s, known as ‘The Crazy Gang’, kicked off their first ever Kanga Cup with a game against North Shore Mariners, and the smiles on faces gave all the confirmation anyone needed that the players loved it.

With more than 200 matches taking place across Canberra and Queanbeyan the Tournament is only just getting moving, and today promises to be another bumper day of action.

Canberra United Westfield W-League stars, both past and present, will be back at the Kambri Precinct at ANU, running Kanga Kids skills sessions in amongst the brand-new backdrop.

That will continue into Wednesday with another session before attendees are invited to join McDonald’s Kanga Cup staff at the Badger & Co. bar to watch New South Wales take on Queensland in the deciding game three.

Stay tuned for more updates from the 2019 McDonald’s Kanga Cup!
