A 33-year-old woman will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (11 October) charged with arson after setting a Mawson house on fire earlier this year.

On 7 June 2018, ACT Fire & Rescue responded to reports of a house fire, after members of the public observed a home in Hurley Street to be alight.

ACT Fire & Rescue attended and extinguished the blaze. No one was home during this incident.

The fire was deemed suspicious and referred to police for further investigation.

Witnesses reported seeing a black ute in the area shortly before the fire, with police identifying the vehicle as a black Holden Commodore SS Ute with Western Australian registration 1EXH189.

On Wednesday afternoon (10 October), police located and arrested a 33-year-old woman in Campbell, who also had an outstanding warrant.

Police would like to thank the public for their assistance.
