Summer Soiree at Patrick White Lawns

When: Saturday 10th 12:30pm to 5:30pm

Where: Patrick White Lawns, Parkes place West

Come and enjoy a relaxed summer day at the Summer Soiree. Celebrate the Christmas season in style with an incredible barbeque lunch, live music and bubbling champagne at the high top Sperry tent.

There will be food and drinks the entire afternoon with lawn games like giant Jenga, chess and croquet available for those feeling more energetic.

Canberra Christmas Markets

2016 Canberra Christmas Market

When: Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th 9:00am to 3:00pm

Where: Exhibition park in Canberra, Flemington Road Lyneham

This weekend exhibition park will be hosting a Christmas market of epic proportions. The markets will have every kind of Christmas gift you could want, from stuffed toys to handmade art.

So come to the markets and find someone a unique Christmas gift in a relaxed atmosphere, instead of fighting the hordes of people getting their final Christmas gifts at the shopping centres.


Australian Quidditch Championships

When: Saturday 10th 8:30am to 6:30pm & Sunday 11th 11:30am to 5:00pm

Where: AIS, Australian Institute of Sport, Bruce

Quidditch is a sport from the Harry Potter Books that has been growing in popularity over the last ten years. It is a full contact, mixed gender, team based sport.

Over 20 of the best Quidditch teams in Australia will be competing for the title of Australian Quidditch champion. The event is free and there will be merchandise and food available to everyone so come along and enjoy something different.


Sri Lankan Food Fair

When: Saturday 10th 11:00am to 2:30pm

Where: 30 Jenke Circuit, Kambah

At the Sri Lankan Buddhist temple there will be a food fair showcasing the most exotic and delicious flavours of Sri Lanka. Everything from roti to samosa will be served, with free tea and coffee to wash it all down.

All money raised will help to maintain the temple so come along, treat your taste buds and help out the local community.


Project Beats End of Year Show

When: Sunday 11th 12:30pm to 4:00pm

Where: Belconnen Community Service, Chandler Street, Belconnen

Come see some the most talented young dancers in Canberra show off what they have learned this year. Each of the dance classes will be showcasing their hip hop dance moves with skill ranges from beginner to expert being shown off.

There will be guest hip hop and dance performers like Izzi-E and the snowballs and PB Ninjas at the event, so you will get to see real professionals at work as well as up and coming amateurs. So come along and support young Canberran artists this weekend.


American Epic: Blues and Barbeque

When: Sunday 11th 12:00pm to 9:30pm

Where: National Film and Sound Archive, McCoy Circuit, Acton

The National Film and Sound Archive, supported by the United States Embassy, is hosting a musical celebration everyone can enjoy.

In this all day event you can enjoy a courtyard barbeque, music lectures, a Q&A with director Bernard MacMahon, drinks, live wax recordings and a showing of the three-part musical documentary American Epic. So come along and learn a bit about America and its music.

I hadn’t heard about the Christmas Markets at EPIC! Planning to finish (read: start) my Christmas shopping this weekend, so perfect timing 🙂

As ever, we are spoilt for choice in our beautiful city. I am heading for the Sri Lankan Food Fair!
