The ABC brings word that the Legislative Assembly’s Justice and Community Safety Committee is going to inquire as to why the long ago officially opened prison in Hume remains empty of prisoners.
- Chairwoman Vicki Dunne says the committee will be seeking documents from the Government.
She says the terms of reference will be wide ranging.
“They relate to the official opening that was held on the 11th of September and it looks at things that may have contributed to the delay in the project of the AMC, delays in commissioning, any costs that the ACT may incur as a result of delays and most importantly the impact on sentenced prisoners,” she said.
