Joy Burchhas has announced that the Youth InterACT Grant rounds will open tomorrow. These grants will provide up to $1,500 in support for projects aimed at Canberran Young People.
“These grants create an exciting opportunity to empower young people to play an active role in their community and deliver projects that are developed by young people for young people,” Ms Burch said.
The Youth InterACT grants, with a total funding pool of $25,000, promote involvement of young people in projects. They are for either young people or organisations that support them.
The events, activities, projects or programs funded must be held in a safe, drug, smoke and alcohol free environment for the benefit of other young people.
Projects funded in the 2012-13 round included a personal safety class for students; a campaign developed by students and teachers to provide education around issues related to mental health, body image and diversity; and an anti-homophobia poster placed in schoolsacross Canberra.
