1. Police disappointed in motorists, again:
- ACT Policing’s Traffic Operations have recorded some disturbing results over the last month with over 153 drivers caught for drink-driving offences.
Acting Superintendent Daryl Neit in charge of Traffic Operations said: “Between the double fatal collision in the early hours of Sunday morning, which has claimed the lives of two young members of our community, and the large number of people detected drink-driving I am concerned that Canberrans are not looking after themselves and all other road users.
“It only takes one person to be over the limit to take a life and destroy the lives of a family. Despite ACT Policing being involved with a major event, being the funeral yesterday and the alleged shooting last week, we have continued our presence around the ACT including traffic enforcement.
“Over the last weekend we have seen four of our young Canberrans end up severely injured or dead as result of vehicle collisions and 49 drivers detected drink-driving on our roads.
“I urge all drivers to take care on our roads and if your going to drink it is simple, don’t drive!” Acting Superintendent Neit said.
