In more good news for the Brumbies a media release has just been issued informing us that Nic White has followed Matt Toomua’s lead and re-signed…
After yesterday’s announcement that Matt Toomua will remain in Canberra, the club is celebrating the news that Nic White will also remain in the Australian Capital until at least the end of 2016 after signing a two year contract extension with the University of Canberra Brumbies on Thursday.
White and Toomua form a central part of the UC Brumbies defence and attack and their re-signing will go a long way to ensuring the club has a quality line-up for years to come.
The nippy scrumhalf first arrived in Canberra in 2010 as an Academy player, having already represented Australia at Under 20s level and the Australia A side for the schoolboys. Since then he has gone on to become one of Australia’s leading scrumhalves and to cement himself in the UC Brumbies No.9 jersey over the last five years.
“My time here has always been positive and it’s been good to work things out so I can stay for another two years,” White said.
“I’m still learning from Steve Larkham each week. He’s a fantastic sounding board for me to bounce ideas off and I’m excited by the prospect of working with him for two more years.
“Last year we came close, and there is an opportunity to go even further with this group this year and into the future. Being a part of that was too good an opportunity to pass up.”
White is the fastest players to the ruck of any Australian scrum half, has one of the longest boots in the game and often tackles players 30kg above his playing weight. Like all good scrumhalves, White is brave in defence and boisterous in attack, guiding his Wallaby laden forward pack around the ground.
With Matt Toomua signing a three-year extension on Wednesday, the UC Brumbies have sealed their Australian Championship winning halves combo for the foreseeable future. Like Toomua, White made 10 appearances for the Wallabies last season and is closing on 50 UC Brumbies caps, currently sitting on 44.
