ACT Policing is seeking assistance from the public to identify a man following an aggravated robbery in Monash last night (Monday 9 June).

About 5.45pm, a man entered a loading dock area of the Spar Supermarket on Barraclough Crescent in Monash.

The offender allegedly pointed a firearm at one of the store’s supervisors and demanded to be taken to the safe.

The man forced the employee into the office and gained access to the safe, leaving with a sum of cash before he fled the area.

Police were called to the location a short time later and established a crime scene.

Police believe the man may have fled in the direction of the green belt area between Cockcroft Avenue and Wheadon Street in Monash after the K9 dog unit located a scent in that area.

AFP Forensics conducted an examination of the premises and CCTV footage was obtained.

The offender is described as being around 6’ (182cm) tall, weighing about 80-85 kilograms.

Police are urging anyone who may have been in the area of the Spar supermarket, around the loading dock or around the green belt area at the time to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
