Like ‘Police today seized enough weed to ruin 200,000 precious snowflakes lives’? The media would have to sensationalize it somehow, if not with money then with your precious children.

I think anyone in this thread praising the work of the police in getting *some* marijuana off ‘the street’ should reassess what exactly they are afraid of.

Sunshine – yes people who smoke it, sell and grow it already know about street values. I was referring to lowlifes on the outside of the drug business always reading how much money can be made and then succumbing to the temptation to jump on board. Having not lived in that time, I cant say whether it has enriched society or not. However, it was still there in the old days, just that it was made at home illegally or by organised crime syndicates, as marijuana is today. Im sure the ‘outlaw bikies’ would like legalisation about as much as the mob liked the end of prohibition.

Don’t get me wrong, I like a good drop, but lets face facts, alcohol is a major problem in society.

I agree in part, but eventually it has to come down to personal responsibility and responsibility of those serving/selling it. Plus, Im sure given the chance, police would rather deal with potheads than drunks. I also distinguish between pot and other drugs such as ice and heroin, which can and do cause more serious problems.

I would be confident in saying that at least 80% of Police work would disappear if alcohol and drugs were never known to human kind.

Don’t get me wrong, I like a good drop, but lets face facts, alcohol is a major problem in society.

At $10k per plant I can understand the temptation to grow weed.

Two big weed busts in a week, wow it might take a pothead an extra 5min now to source their stuff. When I start hearing of the 100th house being raided, Ill start believing the police are making a difference.

The worrying thing about this being $600k worth and still a drop in the ocean, shows just how much money is being funneled into mostly organised crime. While decriminalising and regulating might scare a lot of people, I wonder if those same people lived in the 1920s if they’d have the same fear of their kids getting ahold of the dangerous alcohol if it was legalised.

If all these guys are doing is growing a bit of grass, wheres the problem? Simple answer is that the problem is in the commercialization which has been created by the laws in place, update the laws and stop ruining grown adults lives.
