4. Thuggeranong home invasions:
ACT Policing is seeking a male who is suspected to have been involved in two brazen home break-ins in Tuggeranong over the past 24 hours.
On both occasions, the thief was undeterred by the presence of the residents.
Around 10.50pm yesterday (September 28), police were called to a home in Rohan St, Richardson, where it had been reported that a man had made several attempts to gain entry to a house, before removing and crawling through a security grille to gain access.
The 21-year-old woman at home at the time of the break-in had contacted police, who attended and began pursuing the offender, who fled by jumping over a number of backyard fences and managed to evade police.
The offender was described as Caucasian, around 6’1” (187cm) tall, with a medium build, blond hair and a fair complexion. He was wearing dark clothing.
The same offender is suspected to have been involved in another burglary around 2.05am today (Tuesday, September 29). Police were called to a residence in Chauncy St, Richardson, where an offender was reported to have entered the house. The offender was disturbed by a resident during the course of the offence and fled the house, taking a handbag containing cash and credit cards.
Police would like to take this opportunity to remind residents to fully secure their homes before going to bed, and would urge anyone who saw a suspicious person answering the description above in the Richardson area late last night or early this morning to contact Crime Stoppers.
