Canberra punches above its weight intellectually again, this time in Australian Beauty and the Geek where it can claim two, or a massive 25%, of the Geeks while none of the Beauties are. Must be something in the water.

I’m putting $20 on the show lasting no more than 3 weeks in it’s timeslot before getting axed or moved to 11pm or later. What made them think that creating an Australian version of a load of garbage american show that screens at some hour very late at night was a good idea? Scraping the bottom of the barrel..

Sorry guys…. We’re baaack! Series 3 of Beauty and the Geek!!! Register to audition at http://www.beautyandthegeek.com.au
$50,000 for the winning Geek. Donate it all to a good cause…
We’ll be in Canberra on Friday and Satursay 1st and 2nd July 2011. We need you!

I would prefer to believe that all of the wonderful Canberra lady folk are actually smart enough not to debase themselves or the fine city that is Canberra by attempting to pander to the mindless masses on such an insipid, soul destroying 48 minutes of television pain.

Don’t get out much then do you?
Try taking a walk around your local mall any weekend, and most weekdays.

of course if your ‘prefer to believe’ is an attempt at self delusion, please continue. burying your head in the sand over these sorts of issues may lead to a happier life

I am aware that Jeremy Reading is from Canberra – but I thought he was the only one! Jeremy is the red-headed, not so ‘nerdy’ looking Geek. I believe his partner – aka ‘Miss Congeniality’ – won the teaching challenge during last nights episode.

Weirdly enough I apparently went to the same Primary School as him – what an awesome claim to fame!!!

Hmmm, I’m not sure who this “Jeremy Reading” is, but I did see on sunrise a few months ago on a sneak peek of the show (like when they started filming), that the geek who plays with those baloons is from Canberra… I think. (I’m not sure if that’s ment to be Jeremy or not)

I suggest that Big Bang Theory does not contain good geeks, the little of the show that I could bare watching seemed more like Hollywood’s idea of a geek.

If you want to see a show with good geeks, check out The IT Crowd.

It sounds like you don’t know many PostGrad students. Quite a few of the traits shown by the characters in The Big Bang Theory uncannily match those of several friends and acquaintances.

WHat kills the show is that the geeks are off the street, but of course all the girls are bottom-rung “models” (think Gold Coast Crystie from Big Brother)and have been hired commercially. Shame on Castle Hill School for exposing primary school children to this culture, by the way.

How come the IT problem solver dude from the Canberra Times didn’t get a guernsey?

Because he’s too busy trying to get his USB floppy drive to work with windows 3.1 (at least, last I heard anyway)

I want to know when the show ‘Hunky and the Hideous’ is going on air? Anyone know?

Good geeks never televise well.

Oh I don’t know. Big Bang Theory (on Go 88) is my current best show on tele, and more than enough reason to go buy a $90 HD digital tuner for anyone who hasn’t yet bought one.

Haaaaaaaa hahahahaha ha ha ha haaaa hahaha!

Love it!

We Canberra beauties know we can get the good geeks before they go onto TV. Good geeks never televise well.

What an awesome show! (from a perv’s perspective anyway)

Anyone know which two are the Canb boys?
