The Queanbeyan Age is reporting that there will be a toll imposed on those motorists traveling across the border from Queanbeyan to the ACT.
To quote a portion from the Queanbeyan Age:
“Last night council workers placed electronic toll collecting devices (ETCDs) that scan vehicle number plates at Yass Road under the railway bridge, and at the Harman traffic lights on Canberra Avenue.”
The article form the Queanbeyan Age also suggests people wanting to ride across the border will be charged 80c per wheel. Those folk from Jerra that usually travel to Woden with a 24-wheel bike could be in for some pain!
Imagine having to pay $22 per week to merely cross the railway line each morning for work. Seems a bit foolish.
What I think would NOT be so foolish would be to have some agreement between the ACT and NSW in regard to bus fares. Currently, Deane’s buslines are the only providers of bus services between Queanbeyan and Canberra, and their fares are EXTREME!
