The fashion, fun and fanfare of FASHFEST wowed audiences recently as more than 40 local, national and international designers showed off their collections at Canberra’s only red-carpet fashion event.
Marking its fifth year, FASHFEST is growing in influence and professionalism as it celebrates fashion, arts and culture during six distinct runway shows over three nights.
“It is always a pleasure seeing designers display their latest creations down the catwalk and many of these collections gave me a spine-tingling experience,” said enthused high-profile fashion blogger Grant from Gfashcollective to his wide audience.
“Imagine a Meerkat standing up – that was me as I watched the models head down the catwalk.”
This year’s event at the National Convention Centre is already paying dividends for many of the designers and musicians featured at the event – with sales coming in, a new single released at the event and more.
And it seems that in years to come FASHFEST may extend its reach across the ocean. This year the event incorporated a greater range of New Zealand designs than in the past and there are thoughts of having a version of the event in Wellington in a few years’ time – with increased exposure for Canberra designers of course.
There is no doubt that FASHFEST is a feast for the eyes and local photographer Jack Mohr was on hand for each of the three nights and used his camera to good effect to capture the action and edgy designs which are a feature of this annual experience.
