I have a problem. My family and I recently cremated a loved one and now have to work out what to do with the ashes.
We inquired at the local crematoria and were shocked at the cost to scatter ashes and place memorial plaque… over $2,000… something unaffordable for many.
I have seen in other districts that there are farms that allow you to scatter ashes then plant a tree and place a rock with a plaque, helping develop tree lines that improve the soil, reduce wind erosion, and provide shelter for stock. They offer to water the trees and replace any that die for around $1,200. You can visit at different times through the year with picnic facilities.
We really like this idea as it would create a living memorial that helps improve the environment. Is anyone aware of any options like this in the Canberra region?
