Around 60 books have been stolen from the Canberra Lifeline book fair.
Six bags full of rare books have been reported stolen from the Canberra Lifeline book fair after someone broke into the fair before it opened on Thursday night (6 September).
It is believed around 60 books have been stolen from the book fair that is held to raise vital money for suicide prevention charity, Lifeline. The books, which had been donated to the book fair held on the weekend, included rare first editions and medical journals.
Lifeline told ABC Radio that CCTV footage showed a person stealing six bags full of books and there were no signs of forced entry to the premises.
The charity keeps an inventory of rare items and says they will know shortly what exactly has been taken.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said the incident has been reported to ACT Policing and it was being investigated.
