Sweet Amity probably hasn’t had a family before, so she needs your love!

Meet our lovable ‘Pets of the Week’ looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

This week, say hello to the chatty cat Amity and energetic Red!

Cat of the Week – Amity

Sweet but shy, Amity found herself at the Shelter early last month after being trapped in a humane cat trap after she was found as a stray in the community. When Amity first arrived at the Shelter, she was extremely unsure of her surrounds and requested plenty of time alone while we gained her trust.

Our cattery team held a strong belief that Amity could become a loving socialised cat and spent plenty of time, patience and love to ensure she had the best second chance. She’s come to realise that people are very nice, and will always visit with cuddles or food.

Amity is a chatty cat, very vocal and loves to talk back when spoken to. She’s very excited by affection, so much that sometimes she doesn’t know how to process her emotions and can seem frantic.

Amity hopes that when she finds her new home, she’ll have a set routine, plenty of love and will be ready to settle down.

Amity has had limited interaction with other cats, so it will be best for her to settle into a simple home with adults only.

It is likely that Amity has never lived in a proper home before, so she needs a new family that can share plenty of affection and teach her how to be a loving family pet.

The handsomest boy on the block, Red is looking for an energetic family.

Dog of the Week – Red

Smiley Red, is a golden medium sized Kelpie with a huge personality and great zest for life. Red loves things like the great outdoors, toys and time running about in the yards. Daily walks and play time with our volunteers are what keeps Red smiling while he waits at the Shelter for his new home.

Red has plenty of energy to burn, and will benefit from finding an active family who enjoy getting outdoors and exercising including running, walking, hiking and maybe even bike riding.

As Red is a Kelpie, the nature of his breed means that he will require plenty of exercise and enrichment to ensure that he keeps his mind and body stimulated.

We recommend Red find a family with children eight years and older. Please remember that all interactions between children and dogs/pups should be monitored.
