Dog of the Week: Oreo
We really would love to see as few animals as possible in our care over Christmas, particularly some of our bigger dogs who’ve been here too long. And Oreo here simply demanded we highlight him this week.
That’s not just a made-up statement – Oreo is in our office today, and I was going to talk about Big Mack, a big, lovable boy, but Oreo, as he’s done all day, came up to me with his two-font paws and rested them on my lap as I typed. Then he rested his head into my neck.
This boy is the sweetest. He’s so affectionate, and after the first hour of being surrounded by people, when he was very excited, he settled down and is just winning everybody’s hearts.
Whatever you want from a dog, this beautiful boy has it, from looks, affection, manners, intelligence, obedience and more. Please come and meet Oreo, he quite simply doesn’t belong here.

Cat of the Week: Snickers
Since coming into our care, this lovely fellow has come a long way. He’s gone from being quite shy to being more cozy and comfortable around people and larger spaces.
She still has a ways to go, and that’s where you come in. Snickers needs a home with people who’ve owned cats in the past, so you’ll know what to look for and see the signs. But it won’t be long before she’s a schmoozy girl demanding your attention.
It would be terrific if you have a relatively large home with lots of spaces for her to explore and hide; she’ll get more comfortable faster if she has plenty of safe spaces.
The idea of spending Christmas at our shelter makes our staff and volunteers sad. We know Snickers has a perfect owner waiting out there – maybe you’re reading this right now!
Pawnotes: An awesome week of adoptions, including last week’s cattle dog TJ (and another handsome fellow from a few weeks back, Wynston the kelpie). Plenty more wonderful dogs here waiting to love you.
