Meet our lovable pets of the week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Lunar the Kelpie cross and bonded pair Pickle and Pearl are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These lovely animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below!

Dog of the Week: Lunar

This week’s Dog of the Week, Lunar, has been at our shelter for too long. She’s such a smiley, friendly girl; her photograph isn’t for marketing purposes; she’s like that all the time.

Lately, Lunar has been occupying one of our largest yards, and if you’re looking at our kennel occupants and you hear a dog behind you calling for attention, it’s Lunar. Then it becomes a game, it’s like when you accidently make eye contact with someone you don’t want to talk to; once you’ve done it, they know you’re there and they’re going to talk to you.

In this case, Lunar’s tail will wag as she walks back and forth as you approach. It’s her smile; she’s irresistible.

Lunar loves a game of fetch and spending time with humans. She’s a six-year-old German Shepherd-Kelpie cross looking for an active Canberran to be her new soul mate.

Birds of the Week: Pickle and Pearl

Now here’s a cute couple who’d love to move in with you. They’re Pineapple Conjures who didn’t get along with the other bird in their last home. They like each other and people, though, so it’s cool.

They’re very chatty and have some funny quirks. Pickle will ‘step up’ onto your hand, he’ll have a little nibble too, but nothing that will hurt you. He likes to dance afterwards. He thinks he’s funny.

Pearl is a bit shy about doing a ‘step up’, but when she’s feeling brave, she’ll stand on your head as if she’s the Queen of the World!

The pair are bonded. They need to live with each other, so it’s a package deal to adopt them. You’ll need a large bird enclosure and, ideally, some experience with parrots and no other birds.

Pawnote: Both of last week’s Cats of the Week, Thia (you may recall she had no ears) and sweet Angelica, were adopted and have peaceful new homes to share with their new owners. Thanks to all of Canberra for your support in rehoming animals.

Visit RSPCA ACT at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
