Three men have been charged following a violent incident with police at a licensed premises in Batemans Bay.
“About 3:30 pm yesterday (September 25), officers attached to the South Coast Police District Proactive Crime Team attended a licensed premises on Orient Street, Batemans Bay to arrest a 25-year-old man wanted by virtue of an outstanding warrant,” police report.
“Officers located the man and placed him under arrest. Police allege the man resisted police and became violent. A screwdriver was located secreted in the man’s clothing and removed by police.
“During the altercation, two other men approached police and were subsequently arrested.
“No injuries were sustained as a result of the altercation.
“All three men were arrested and taken to Batemans Bay Police Station.”
A 29-year-old man was charged with intimidating a police officer, offensive language, possessing housebreaking implements and possession of goods suspected of being stolen.
A 24-year-old man was charged with intimidating a police officer and offensive language.
A 25-year-old man was charged with assault with intent to resist/prevent apprehension, possessing housebreaking implements, stealing a motor vehicle and driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period.
All three were refused bail and are due to face Batemans Bay Local Court today (September 26).
