Over the Australia Day long weekend (25 January – 27 January) five people were charged with assault and 11 people were charged with being intoxicated while driving offences.
Police apprehended six people for drink driving and five people for drug driving while double demerits were in place to deter motorists from doing the wrong thing as they enjoyed the public holiday.
There were also five apprehensions for offences against good order, ACT Policing said.
Offences against good order can include incidents that breach the peace, assault and affray, and generally refer to people doing the wrong thing in public.
