McDonalds Mighty Angus meal. $10 lunch review

Can’t wait to find out how this new concoction stacks up against the mighty Double Whopper meal for the same price.

AFAIK yes, it seems the government way for most inspections. However if there are any issues, the follow ups are unannounced.

I am in no way affiliated with MD, however i do have friends who work their as both managers + general workers.
It not an exciting job, but it provides the workforce with a lot of jobs, and takes on kids with little to no experience. These days you get brochures and training about your rights in the workplace, as well as a chain of command of conflict resolution (obviously they have their own lingo for it)
I used to agree with you that MDs is a dump full of overpowering managers, but provided you’re doing your job efficiently, their isn’t an issue. Obviously, in hiring many people they get the occasional bad apples that aren’t motivated to work, but they cut those ties pretty quick. If someone disagrees with this, feel free to correct me 🙂

As far as i’ve seen, your pay “exponentially” increases the longer you’ve been there (rather than linearly).

Interesting anecdote from a colleague of mine: she lives in the James Court apartments and a few weeks ago was woken in the middle of the night (3 am) by an almighty racket at MacDonalds. It turned out that they knew that the health inspectors were coming at 7 am so Mackers paid to have the place cleaned from top to bottom during the night, including using noisy machinery to clean out disgusting drains etc. Do the health inspectors normally give notice? Or would it have been some corrupt tipoff?

Maccas have contracted outside cleaners come in every night to clean the place out, on top of the normal staff. Can’t comment on the machinery. The inspectors were no doubt McD’s own internal inspectors who pop by from time to time and do an incredibly comprehensive inspection every year or so.

But as you mentioned JB, I do wonder what happened to McDonalds generally? To partly answer my own question – I did my time there 20 years ago as a clueless kid and it was by far the strictest job I’ve ever had. Would get harshly reviewed and threatened almost every shift and even called in outside of shifts to basically commit to working harder. It was adults in charge who absolutely exploited the fact that none of us kids knew our rights in the workplace.

These days the managers are barely older than their staff and it’s seen as one of the worst jobs you can have – clearly beneath most teenagers. A while back the person serving me stopped halfway through my order to pull their phone out, turn their back and answer a SMS!

Aparently if you are a manager, asst. manager, shift manager etc they pay actualy pretty well considering. They have upped their wages for the kids too apparently just so they can get ppl to keep working there.

For cheap, easy and consistent food McD’s can’t be beat. It’s not an every day food, sure, but really not as bad as the popular crowd would make it out to be.

I like the McChicken burger myself.

I had one of these Grand Angus burgers last week and it was pretty good.
It’s not gourmet food, but it’s not meant to be.
I compare this attitude with the amount of people that went crazy about a red caravan who managed to put some real cheese and fancy lettuce on a burger and charge $15. It doesn’t make sense.
