The Groovin the Moo festival has been cancelled for the second year in a row.
Cattleyard Promotions, which runs the regional festival, said current restrictions and uncertainty around the pandemic meant it would be impossible to proceed.
Tickets purchased for the 2020 festival can still be used in 2022 but a refund is also being offered to would-be festivalgoers.
“We are working towards 2022 going ahead and will do everything we can to make this happen,” Cattleyard said in a statement.
“Trust us, we want to put on a festival just as much as you want to go to one!”
Ticketholders will need to apply for a refund in the 28-days between Monday, 8 February and Sunday, 7 March by logging onto Moshtix.
The popular Canberra festival joins a spate of other major events to be cancelled due to COVID-19, including the National Folk Festival at EPIC, which will now be held as a scaled-back, COVID-safe event in Queanbeyan this Easter, and Summernats.
After receiving a grant for $1.2 million, Cattleyard Promotions has plans to develop a smaller regional music tour, ‘Fresh Produce’, which will visit Canberra, Bendigo, Townsville, Bunbury, Maitland, Wayville, Toowoomba and Glenorchy.
Fresh Produce will feature a single-stage and seating for the crowd.
