Territory And Municipal Services advise that they’re done schoolin’ on killin’ and are re-opening the killing fields after their kangaroo cull in the nature reserves:
The ACT Government wishes to advise that Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve, Goorooyaroo Nature Reserve, Mount Painter Nature Reserve, Callam Brae Nature Reserve, Jerrabomberra West Nature Reserve and Kama Nature Reserve have been reopened to the public today, Monday 27 June 2011. Unleased territory land adjacent to Kama Nature Reserve has also been reopened.
The sites had been closed since 3 June 2011 to allow for a controlled cull of over-abundant kangaroos to take place.
“A total of 2439 kangaroos have been culled to ensure these grassland and woodland sites are protected from overgrazing in coming years,” Daniel Iglesias, Manager within Parks and Conservation Service, said today.
