The adhoc way the government started this program and its reluctance to provide detailed information tend to make us all suspicious. I don’t think the government have presented a strong case for the cull and have relied on peoples ignorant bigotry to split support down political lines. At best this cull is an indulgent experiment.

Its a big document and I havent read all of it. But it presents a strong case for the cull.

Well, most of the ways you would cull a population to control it many years into the future (kill or the males, or kill all the breeding females, or whatever) are not really fashionable with populations of “wild” animals, as being selective like that tends to change animals relativity quickly (over several generations). This is how we end up with stupid looking pets, like sausage dogs. Who wants sausage roos running around. Not me.

I may have got off topic there.

One would think that the ACT government could come up with a more strategic approach to the issue rather than just blasting two and a half thousand roos to oblivion everytime someone thinks there are too many of them.

And that figure doesn’t include the 900 joeys that also died, clubbed to death by the way, something that a spokesman on 666 this morning had a very difficult time admitting.

I’ve seen the minor birds hopping around outside King O’Malley’s in Civic. Clearly a violation of their liquor licence conditions!

Yes, you can easily describe the birds (the two legged variety) who hang around King O’Malleys as minor.
