For those who haven’t heard or might have forgotten the Canberra Folk Festival is on this Easter weekend at EPIC. The CT has a quick write-up of the activities that will be taking place, but for those in the know its the Guiness tent that everyone wants to be in.

i would have thought the volunteer corp would be way down with all the unwashed peacefully rioting at baxter.

how was the yoni divining workshop ? i prefer the mucus readings myself.

aaah!! missed out on the bellydancing!!! Still, couldn’t afford it anyway 🙁

I spent the day at the festival yesterday. It all started poorly when the queues for tickets stretched to one hour. The natives were very restless and let the volunteers running the tills know it. Once inside it was a very pleasant day for all concerned. To put one comment in context, the entry fee covers all the workshops, so there is nothing extra to pay, apart from your Guinness and munchies.

Highlight of the day was the ‘Spooky Men’s Chorale”. They are a vocal group of some twenty Blue Mountains blokes that have to be heard (and seen) to be believed.

btw, the bellydancing was very good!

you need to do 16 volunter hours to get in for free, there are approx 1,200 volunteers. These plus performers will only be a small proportion of the total number of people over the weekend.
$65 for a full day is not that bad, comparable with a ticket to a concert and if the perfomances are what interests you then go for it.

Most people “volunteer” they do a little bit of helping out, meet other like minded people, and get the rest ofthe weekend free.

I think my mother is the only person who pays full fare.

thats far too much. I might have considered going if it was cheaper.

yeah. I wanted to go to a bellydance workshop, but it was just impossible given I’d have to pay the workshop fee plus the entry. Very steep.

I was wondering what that smell was

man that doesnt leave much for mulled wine and mung bean casserole.

just tried to post costs, but for some reason it didn’t work. Its hefty. $45 for an evening ticket, $65 for a day, and $150 for the whole thing.

Just found the website, ticket info here

I’m sure I saw an entry fee listed somewhere – from memory it was seriously hefty.

The scalp of the nearest hippy entitles you free entry.

does anyone know if it costs anything to get in? and if so how much?
