More than 2500 motorists were breath-tested as part of a long weekend road safety campaign by ACT Policing.
The 28 to 30 May blitz focused on drink driving, drug screen testing and general road safety.
From the RBTs, five alcohol-impaired drivers were discovered.
One incident of note was on Monday (30 May) when a car collided with a light pole on Majura Avenue in Dickson at about 1:50 pm. The male driver returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.123, more than double the legal 0.05 limit.
He was immediately suspended from driving in the Territory for 90 days and will face ACT Magistrates Court at a later date to face charges related to drink driving.
Police also conducted about 100 drug screen tests, with six drivers returning positive results. In all, 48 infringement notices were issued, along with 13 cautions.
Detective Acting Superintendent Paul Hutchenson said the road safety enforcement operation was part of ACT Policing’s ongoing commitment to National Road Safety Week.
“We have seen fatalities this year because of poor driving behaviours,” he said.
“We are calling on all drivers to play their part in driving safely and making sure each and every road user gets home to their family and friends.
“Our officers will continue to be out and about to ensure our roads are as safe as possible.”
