Apparently we have questionable currency floating around town again.
According to this media release from last Thursday, apparently they are made of a ‘paper-type material’ (possibly paper), are smaller than usual, and the clear plastic window is different.
The AFP media release doesn’t say -exactly- how else the notes differ, but in the pictures shown the locations of the stars in the Southern Cross are backwards and most of them have the wrong number of points.
So make sure you check your cash to make sure it is real, as trying to pass off known counterfeit currency is itself a crime (I think).
