AIR FORCE CANBERRA FLYOVER AND COMMEMMORATION CEREMONY RECOGNISES 87 YEARS
WHAT: The Royal Australian Air Force will celebrate its 87th birthday this Monday, 31 March 2008.
WHEN: The event will commence at 1.00pm.
WHO: The Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Procurement, the Hon. Greg Combet MP; Chief of Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston AC, AFC; and Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal Geoff Shepherd AO, will attend the ceremony.
WHERE: The ceremony will take place at the Air Force Memorial on ANZAC Parade.
Three Hawk aircraft from No. 76 Squadron, based at RAAF Base Williamtown, will conduct a flypast over Canberra between 1.35pm and 1.55pm on 31 March 2008.
At 1.40pm the aircraft will flypast west to east over the RAAF Memorial on ANZAC Parade and complete a flypast south to north up ANZAC Parade towards the Australian War Memorial at 1.45pm and turn right to overhead the Australian Defence Force Academy then east west along Lake Burley Griffin to overhead the National Museum, turn left to overhead Parliament House and depart north up Northbourne Avenue.
The three Hawk aircraft from Air Force’s No. 76 Squadron is the primary training squadron for pilots transitioning to fast jet aircraft.
