I couldn’t get my credit card to work in the US at service stations at all, even if I went inside and the attendant ran it through the point of sale device. Instead, I just paid with cash. Interestingly, I never had a problem with the cards anywhere else, just servos.

Of course, if this service station wasnt in violation of a standing ACCC order with regards to prepaying at the pump, then the whole theft issue could be virtually eliminated. Currently, they have issues with driveoffs AND they violate a ruling which could well reduce their driveoffs significantly.

The real question is how come nearly 2 years after they were ordered to cease their exclusive pay-at-pump deal, that theyre still allowed to continue with it, in violation of several rulings.

You might find that typing in 00000 also works.

Think you missed the point. What is strange is the fact it is only 1 pump at all times, also unless I am very mistaken the very first post was actually having a shot at the grammar that was used on the sign.

Yeah I realise both those points. Was just adding to the conversation that there’s others around, as some of the posts above had mentioned that it’s a sad sign to see in Canberra.

Look, every one of you have got it wrong. It clearly states to go seize the attendant. In other words, please do not steal our petrol, take the attendant instead because they’re pathetic at stopping the robberies anyway but due to IR laws we can’t fire them.
