A command post was established at the Kiandra Courthouse, on the Snowy Mountains Highway, Kiandra and a search was launched.

The wide-scale search involved officers attached to Monaro Police District with assistance from the Mounted Unit, Dog Unit, SES, National Parks and Wildlife Service, Rural Fire Service and a Surf Life Saving Helicopter. Members of the public also assisted.

At about 4:50 pm today (27 October), the woman was located injured by a National Parks and Wildlife Service officer on the Nungar Creek Trail at Kiandra.

She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for exposure and what is believed to be a snake bite, before she was taken to Cooma District Hospital in a stable condition.

Police would like to thank those involved in the multi-agency search, members of the public and the media for their assistance.

Personal differences aside, wonderful news, plaudits to the search team.

A great result with Lovisa “Kiki” Sjoberg found safe and well!

A credit to the work of the dedicated multi-agency rescue crew and members of the public who were there every day, undertaking this massive and intensive air and ground search over a 7-day period!

A search and rescue operation which would not have been required had Ms Sjoberg followed simple safety protocols!

Ah Captain Hindsight strikes again.

It is hard to believe that you know completely the circumstances surrounding this.

I have fished and bushwalked many times, over 60 years, in that area and often not obeyed the letter of ‘Jack’s law’., especially in the days before mobile phones and GPS – not always a goiod signal up there.

If (a big if) you have bushwalked as often as you say you have have you ALWAYS obeyed ‘Jack’s law’

Your smart alec response in undermining of my comments is noted Philip Creagh!

I have hiked in some of the most rugged and beautiful regions in Australia including Kiandra and Koscziusko National Park.

No I don’t know the full circumstances surrounding Lovisa Sjoberg’s disappearance but I do know from my experiences that I would never be reckless enough to put my life or others at risk by taking it upon myself to go solo without carrying the proper safety and emergency equipment, or advising friends and loved ones of my whereabouts. Not to mention the propensity for unpredictable and extreme weather events in such volatile terrains.

I am pleased Ms Sjoberg has been found safe and well and wish her a speedy recovery. All thanks to the dedicated multi-agency rescue crew and members of the public who undertook a massive air and ground search taking 7-days to find her.

I hope Ms Sjoberg has learnt from her reckless and irresponsible actions!
