Help for finding a dentist who will consider full extraction

Funny you ask – I had a tooth extracted yesterday and had a great experience at Greenway Dental in Tuggerenong with Eric Kropinak. I was in extreme pain due to a cracked tooth, I could hardly function and was only sleeping 4 hours a night. It was shooting pain all the way down to my legs and my gums were stinging. I called up in the morning he was able fit me in pretty much right away. The tooth was too far gone so he recommended I get it extracted rather than root canal (I was surprised as from what I have heard a lot of dentists recommend root canal even though there is little chance the tooth will come good). He was able to fit me in later on that day and after 30 minutes the tooth was out. I experienced no pain at all apart from a slight prick when the aesthetic needle went in. I was given printed instructions on what to do after the extraction, some mouth wash and spare gauze for my mouth to save me going to the chemist.

I was only charged $320 for everything – including the consultation, xray and tooth extraction with aesthetic. After private health I only paid $112! Today I feel no pain at all and couldn’t be happier with the outcome and their service. A team of great people, highly recommended!

Dr Carmelo Bonanno in Woden is the best dentist for extraction (it is all he does). He is gentle, and kind and recommended for people who have phobia’s of dental work (not that you suffer that, but for future) I would recommend him every day of the week!

I recommend Dr Long Fang (real name) at TLC in Dickson. Very professional, quick, painless and very well priced.

Fairly big ramifications from having all your teeth removed and getting used to a denture can be tough. Took my husband about a year to adjust fully.

I went to Prevenative dental for a lot of work, I found them friendly, caring, and not patronising at all.

I thought they gave all the info I needed.

I would agree, they do charge like stampede of wounded bulls.

If your partner can stand a dentist with a horrid bedside manner, they could give Dr Uren in Queanbeyan a go.

He is (or at least was last time I had cause to see him) very cheap.

My feeling is that he would do as he was asked.

I can recommend the one at the Ginninderra medical centre. Especially the woman (sorry, bad with names).

I would not go back to Preventive Dental in Deakin. They are rude, patronising, don’t give proper info and try to steer you towards the most expensive options when their normal fees are already well above average. Probably great if you have one precious tooth that needs lots of TLC, but definitely not if you have a mouthful of them.
