I think both the store itself as well as the fashion itself is controversial. Zara is one of the many stores that rely on ‘fast fashion’, pumping out new lines every couple of weeks to keep the customers coming back frequently.

I wandered into the Melbourne store a few weeks ago to see what all the fuss is about. To me (mid-thirties, non-fashionable male) it seemed to be aimed solely at hipsters and trendies; middle of the range quality, manufactured in China following designs that may have been fashionable some 6 months ago in Europe at a price that is above Lowes/KMART and below David Jones.

In a word, mediocre.

I had the misfortune of visiting the Sydney store a couple of weeks ago. Watching all the women pounce on the clothes reminded me of seagulls on a chip.
