A 29-year-old Lyons woman is assisting police with enquiries in relation to the robbery of an elderly woman at the Commonwealth Bank ATM at Woden yesterday (March 15).
Around 11.35am yesterday, the elderly woman had just withdrawn money from the ATM when her purse was snatched by a woman. The offender immediately fled the area. The elderly woman was unharmed.Members from Woden Police Station executed a search warrant earlier today on the 29-year-old’s unit.
First Constable Mark Scrivens from Woden Police Station said that police acted on information received from the public.
“A search warrant was sworn and executed on the woman’s home earlier today (Saturday, March 16),” First Constable Scrivens said.
Police executed the warrant about 11.20am on a unit at Strathgordon Court, Lyons. The 29-year-old woman was present during the execution of the warrant.
“We want to thank the media and the public for its response to this matter, which has led to a possible suspect being identified.”

The woman who was assisting police with their enquiries has been arrested.
She has been given Watch House bail and will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (March 18) charged with Robbery.
