A novel approach to touch screen computing

By johnboy - 15 June 2011 10

touch screen

There used to be a joke about being able to tell an Irish computer by the amount of WhiteOut on the monitor.

P1 has sent in this picture of something similar from Canberra Imaging, in the Calvary precinct:

What you are seeing, is a touch screen “take a number” thing, with a printed sticker stuck over one of the “buttons”…

Judging from the length and the last two letters “nt” I suspect it is “arrange new appointment.”

Close! Having been to Canberra Imaging at John James recently – with a fully working touch screen system – I’m pretty sure that first option was something like ‘Check in for appointment’.

That would be your odds of getting out of there in under 2 hours. Doesn’t need such a large sticker really…………

Is there anything more tempting to press than a “do not press here” sticker?

Yes. “Wet paint” (is it really wet? looks dry to me….)
