ACT Policing’s Taskforce Nemesis yesterday arrested a 36-year-old Calwell man they say is known to be the ACT Chapter President of the Nomads Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG).

According to an ACT Policing media statement, Taskforce Nemesis officers executed a warrant around 9 am yesterday (June 22) and searched the man’s home and car.

They report locating “a self-loading semi-automatic pistol, three ballistic vests, a conducted energy weapon, a spring loaded flick knife and drugs”.

“At the completion of the warrant the man was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House and charged with unauthorised possession of a prohibited firearm, posses/use a prohibited article without permit/authorisation (3 counts), possess a prohibited weapon without permit/authorisation (2 counts), possess prohibited substance, possess drug of dependence and possess ammunition,” the statement said.

Police will be opposing bail.

Taskforce Nemesis is a dedicated team within ACT Policing which targets “the criminal activity and unlawful wealth of OMCG members in order to disrupt and dismantle their criminal operations”.

Anyone who has information in relation to OMCG activity is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or through the Crime Stoppers ACT website (information can be provided anonymously).
