The bright red aircraft getting around is a PC-21 that Pilatus is touring around the region, It may have been accompanied by their PC-12 that was also here. The PC-21 is one of the contenders to replace the Air Force’s ageing PC-9s under project AIR 5428 and Pilatus decided to bring one down for a tour. It did a few photo shoots with various other aircraft over Canberra including the Nanching that is at Canberra airport.

The Roulettes were here this morning (Saturday) for the Chief of Defence Force Parade at ADFA (http://www.defence.gov.au/media/DepartmentalTpl.cfm?CurrentId=9999).

But hey, the other replies were amusingly misinformed 🙂

Defence decided to look in to the PC-21 to replace its aging fighter/bomber fleet, in light of the JSF project being such a clusterF@#K and running short of funds, PC-21 the cheaper alternative………………

AHHHHHHH…………..Sarcasm released for the day.

Al, The business jet you saw was one of the RAAF VIP aircraft.

As for the Roulette’s. Expect to see them flying around AFDA on Saturday morning.

He was impressive.

No aerobatics but there was a Citation or Lear flying very low over Dickson at 5pm today…

Believe it’s new aircraft that the RAAF may be looking at, showing off its capabilities to the folks in Russell.
