The Australian Federal Police Canine Team is engaged in two operations in Canberra hotels this afternoon in response to ransom requests.
The Twitter account for ACT Policing reported that operations were underway at the Pavilion and Novotel hotels at around 2.30pm and added an hour later that police were responding to reports of “unsubstantiated ransom requests directed to Novotel hotel in the city and the Pavilion hotel in Dickson”.
At 3.35pm they added that the canine team was searching the hotels as part of an ongoing operation.
