ANU has announced their Centre for Mental Health Research has successfully quantified what makes a job bad:
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had? Was it one where you felt you had little job security, and that the rug could be pulled out from beneath you at any point? Perhaps it was about the sheer weight of work coming at you? Maybe it was because that job, with its overwhelming workload and fragile security, also gave you little control about how you managed that workload? It just kept on coming.
Hard to disagree with the finding.
Interestingly they reckon bad jobs are so damaging for mental health one is better off unemployed (assuming you can pay your bills one imagines)
