The National Arboretum Canberra is inviting bonsai and penjing enthusiasts, or anyone looking to enjoy a wonderful evening at the Arboretum, to spend a few hours with Italian architect and renowned international bonsai artist, Mauro Stemberger, for a live demonstration on creating a beautiful bonsai artwork.
National Bonsai and Penjing Collection Curator, Leigh Taafe, said Mauro is an instructor for Bonsai Clubs International and in 2005 founded the Italian Bonsai Dream, a place for enthusiasts to work with and enjoy bonsai art.
“For the last four years Mauro has been running bonsai demonstrations and workshops for bonsai clubs and associations in Mexico, USA, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Italy, Croatia, England, Austria, France, Portugal, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland and now Australia,” Mr Taafe said.
“He will be available to chat with guests and will also give his personal comments on a small selection of bonsai from our very own National Bonsai and Penjing Collection. It will be a great opportunity to listen to and learn from one of the world’s premier bonsai experts.
“Those who attend this evening event will get to enjoy a special sunset viewing at the Arboretum and a sparkling after dark experience of the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection under lights. This is a spectacular sight, which very few people have to opportunity to witness.”
