Ask RiotACT: Roof restoration in Canberra

Ask RiotACT

Hi Canberra.

I’d like opinions and recommendations on roof restoration in Canberra.

We are interested in roof restoration for our home. Rebedding ridges and gables, repointing tiles, gutter repair and replacing flashing has been done recently.

We might need a few tiles to be replaced (old concrete tiles).

We are planning to have Solar installed next year so would like to make sure the roof is in a good condition beforehand.

I saw some old posts about Watch this roof etc but nothing new on the subject

Any ideas, experience, recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Leonnie, I do approximately 10 roofs in the warmer months. I just want to offer some advise, I'm not doing an advertisement. Firstly steer well clear of anyone saying they will do your roof for under 2k, its just not possible as the correct products lets say for a 100sqm home would be around $1300. The roof needs to be properly washed and sterilized. 1 coat of primmer (sometimes 2) then two coats of top coat. The best advice I can give you is contact AcraTex.com.au they have a data base of qualified and trained applicators, in Canberra there are 3 to 4 of us. You are given a 10 factory warranty from Dulux, if a failure occurs ( hasn't happened to me) they will send the applicator back to rectify, should they not they loose their accreditation. Dulux will then send another applicator at the previous ones expense. Finally rebeding, pointing should be somewhere on the vicinity of $2300-$2800 inclusive of tile replacement.

Hope the above helps

Thanks Tony Helpfull info. I have heard of Dulux and a 10 year warranty. I am trying to find AcraTex.com.au have a data base of qualified and trained applicators I recieved this so far > Good morning Leonnie, for this in formation you will need to enquire with Acratex directly, you can either call or fill in the online enquiry form via this page - https://www.dulux.co…ier/products/acratex/contactus

    Acratex Contact us | Dulux

Dulux AcraTex® products provide a textured finish that protects against render cracking I sucessfully filled out the online enquiery form. Wish me luck! :)

Leonnie Stewart Hi again Leonnie. Apparently Dulux have changed to a "new system" they do not currently have a link on their site for accredited applicators but this will be fixed shortly. In the interim if you call inspirations paint 62932292 they have a list of which I am on. Hope that helps and sorry for inadvertantly leading you on a wild goose chase. Rest of the info I provided was spot on.

    Best of luck
